Terms and Conditions

  1. General. These Terms and Conditions of Use set out the terms and conditions governing the use of FAO Campus and the courses and educational resources available through the platform. The courses include materials developed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (hereinafter referred to as "FAO") and by partner organizations (hereinafter referred to as the "Partners") that are available on FAO Campus.

  2. Use. FAO and the Partners are the copyright holders of the materials available on FAO Campus. They also hold the intellectual property rights to materials specifically developed by FAO and the Partners for inclusion in FAO Campus, which are protected by applicable copyright laws and regulations worldwide.
FAO Campus contains materials and supplementary resources, including documents, user manuals, images and software, which are provided by FAO and the Partners on an “as is” basis, either directly or through global electronic networks (Internet). FAO and the Partners retain all copyright and other intellectual property rights in such materials and supplementary resources made available through FAO Campus.
FAO and the Partners grant you a limited, personal and non-exclusive licence to download and print the materials available on FAO Campus solely for educational and training purposes and, under no circumstances, for commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and Conditions of Use.
The reproduction, distribution, modification or other use of materials specifically developed by FAO and the Partners for resale or any other commercial purpose is strictly prohibited unless prior written authorization has been obtained from the respective copyright holders.

  3. User Registration and Data Protection. To access certain FAO Campus features, users may be required to create an account and provide certain personal information. Users declare that the information they provide is accurate and complete and undertake to keep it up to date whenever necessary.
The processing of personal data is carried out in accordance with the FAO Data Protection Policy and the FAO Data Protection and Privacy Notice.
FAO will process personal data solely for purposes related to the operation, administration and delivery of FAO Campus services, and will only share such data where necessary and in accordance with the FAO Data Protection Policy.
Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials and for all activities carried out under their account.

  4. Use of Forums and Interactive Spaces. FAO Campus may provide discussion forums, comment tools and other interactive spaces for participants. By using these spaces, users agree to treat other participants with respect and not to post unlawful, offensive, discriminatory, defamatory, threatening or obscene content, or any content that infringes the rights or intellectual property of others. Users further agree not to distribute advertising, unsolicited communications (spam) or unauthorized commercial content, nor to introduce viruses, malicious software or engage in any activity that may affect the security, availability or proper functioning of FAO Campus. FAO may restrict, suspend or terminate a user's access to FAO Campus where these Terms and Conditions of Use are violated or the platform is used improperly.

  5. Disclaimer of Warranty; Limitations on Liability. You expressly acknowledge and agree that any use of FAO Campus and the materials developed by the Partners is at your sole risk. Neither FAO, the Partners, nor any of their employees, agents, third-party data providers or licensors warrant that access to and use of FAO Campus will be uninterrupted or error-free; nor do they warrant the results that may be obtained from the use of FAO Campus and the materials developed by the Partners, or the accuracy, reliability or content of any information or service available through FAO Campus.

FAO Campus and the materials developed by the Partners are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. In no event shall FAO or the Partners be liable for any loss of business or profits, or for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, FAO Campus, even if FAO or the Partners have been advised of the possibility of such damages, or for any other claim brought by you or any other person.

  6. Disclaimer for External Links. FAO Campus provides external links to Internet addresses that do not belong to FAO or the Partners. These external Internet addresses contain information created, published, maintained or otherwise provided by institutions, individuals or organizations independent of FAO and the Partners. At the time such links were included, an author considered them to be of interest to FAO Campus users. However, FAO and the Partners do not endorse, approve, certify or exercise any control over these external resources and do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, effectiveness, timeliness or correct presentation or sequencing of the information contained therein. The use of any information obtained from such addresses is voluntary. Reference to any specific commercial product, process or service by trade name, trademark, service mark, manufacturer or otherwise does not constitute or imply endorsement or recommendation by FAO or the Partners.

  7. Indemnification. By using FAO Campus, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless FAO, the Partners and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents from and against any claims and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your use of FAO Campus or by any person accessing FAO Campus through your account.

  8. Termination. Either you or FAO or the Partners may terminate these Terms and Conditions of Use at any time, effective immediately, with or without prior notice to the other party. Termination automatically ends your licence to use FAO Campus and any materials made available through it. Any provisions which, by their nature, are intended to survive termination shall remain in effect after these Terms and Conditions of Use have ended.

  9. Governing Law; Disputes. These Terms and Conditions of Use shall be governed by the general principles of law, to the exclusion of any national legal system. Any dispute, controversy or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions of Use shall be settled by mutual agreement. If FAO, the Partners and you are unable to reach agreement on any dispute, any party may request arbitration in accordance with the Arbitration Rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law. FAO, the Partners and you agree to be bound by any arbitral award rendered in accordance with those Rules as the final settlement of any such dispute. Nothing contained in or relating to these Terms and Conditions of Use shall be deemed an express or implied waiver of the privileges and immunities of FAO or the Partners.

  10. Miscellaneous. These Terms and Conditions of Use constitute the entire agreement and understanding between FAO, the Partners and you with respect to the matters addressed herein.
